Our Founder

Mr. Elvin Norwood Vaughan
10.15.1922  –  02.09.2017

Mr. Elvin Norwood Vaughan served in the United States Army where he was a soldier in World War II. Upon returning from the armed services, he enrolled and completed Echols College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1958, Elvin began and operated Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home on South Street in Franklin, Virginia. Other than loving and caring for his wife and daughter, being a funeral director was the highlight of his life, taking care of families in the area.

Elvin loved serving his community where he served in numerous capacities. He was a founding board member of P.D. Pruden VoTec Center, Suffolk, Virginia; instrumental in naming Barrett’s Landing in Franklin, Former Franklin City School Board Member, and Former Franklin City Council Member.

Karen Norletta Vaughan Edmond, the second generation of the Vaughan family to serve the community, joined the firm in 2017 and currently serves as Owner/President. We are proud of our history of commitment and service to the families in the area for over 59 years.
